 What is Virtual Pursuit?

Virtual Pursuit is an interactive
dating game in which you can participate in many
ways. You can be a contestant and be in direct
pursuit of a date, while getting advice from other
members of the site as well as the people closest
to you. You can also give advice to other contestants
playing in games. Virtual Pursuit is a different
type of dating site because it gives people a non-threatening
avenue of matching themselves with others while
still being influenced in real-world ways (friends
and family). The bottom line is we want you to
have fun and be entertained while playing the game
while still serving the purpose of finding that ‘someone
special’. |

How Do I Get Started?
|

To become a member of the Virtual
Pursuit site, simply click on the area of the
home page labeled ‘Signup Now’.
This area of the site will allow you to signup
as a member of the site. Once you are a member
of the site, you can participate in any game. |

|
How Do I Win?
|
|
|
|
As the contestant (person selecting
from the lineup), you win by selecting the person in
the lineup that sent you the original game message
(in other words, you pick the person that picked you
to begin with). You can get influences from many different
people (i.e. advisors, audience members, etc) but ultimately,
YOU make the decision. |

|
|
Look at an example game shown below:
Contestant:
This player is the person that is making a selection
from the lineup of 5 people. The game started by
a game message being sent to this player from another
member of the site (which is also one of the five
people in the lineup).
Lineup Member:
This player is one of the five members displayed
in the game lineup. The lineup is the group of 5
people from which the contestant is making a selection.
One of those five people was the one who started
the game by sending the contestant a game message.
Advisor:
This player is a member
of one of the voting categories within the game (with
the exception of the group ‘Audience’).
The advisors for a game will originate from the My
Connections categories. See more about My Connections
in the My Connections section of Help.
Audience:
This player is a member
of the Virtual Pursuit site but is not a selected
participant of the game. Any member of the Virtual
Pursuit site can be a voting participant of any game
by playing the game as an audience member. Just simply
place your vote and that’s it !

What is voting ?
|

|
|
Any member of the Virtual Pursuit site
can place a vote for a game. If you are not in one
of the advisor sections to place a vote, you can place
a vote as an audience member. |

What is the limit on number of participants and game durations ?

How
can I search for games?
|
|
|
|
To search for a game, select the menu option labeled ‘Games’.
Next select the submenu labeled ‘Search’. Selecting the menu
option will take you to a page to perform an advanced search using specific
criteria. |

How do I view my profile ?
|
|
|
|
Select the menu option Profile then choose the submenu labeled
My Profile. You will then see a page with your profile information as well
as your connections and comments about you. |

|
|
How
do I edit my profile information?
|
|
|
|
In the Profile section of the My Profile page, there is
a button labeled Edit My Profile. Simply click that button and you will
see a page that allows you to edit your profile information as well as
the photos you have on file. |

How
do I change my default picture that is seen throughout the site?
|
|
|
|
Select the menu option Profile then choose the submenu labeled
My Profile. Next click the button labeled Edit My Profile that is displayed
on this page. The next page you will see has an area labeled My Photo.
It is in this area that you can change the default photo that displays
throughout the site. |

How do I start a game?
|
|
|
|
You have to be logged on before you can start a game.
Choose a person to start a game with ( say you enter a username).

The person cannot be you yourself. |

The person had to be a current active member
of the site. |

You should not already have another game currently
in progress or due for approval with this member. |

The person you have chosen must be looking
for members of your gender |
Based upon the following preferences of the chosen member:

four other random members are chosen by the system and placed on the lineup with
you. If sufficient members cannot be found who match the preferences of your
chosen member, the game cannot be started. This is possible if the member you
have chosen has very narrow preferences or there aren't enough members available.
Based on the email preference of the chosen member, an email is sent informing
that they have a new game. No email is sent if the member has opted not to be
notified via email. They don't know that you started the game. You are just one
among the other five people on the lineup. This is where mystery is.
If the you are able to successfully start this game, you can see this game in
your game center. |
